Training Course Towards Europe ! Exploring together citizenship, identity and culture

10-14 September, 2007
Baku , Azerbaijan

The course aims to train multipliers who can foster understanding of European Citizenship among the young people from EU and Neighboring countries and to develop the competence of youth groups to incorporate the elements of European Citizenship in their activities. We believe that by increasing active participation and European Awareness as well as access to information and understanding of various policies, we can contribute to developing more equal opportunities for people from various European countries.

Recent Neighborhood Policy of EU creates new opportunities for youth organizations from the countries of Eastern Europe and Caucasus to become agents of change in their societies by developing the values of democracy, civil society, human rights, good governance and active citizenship. Young People from the EU benefit from the White Paper process which stimulates development of youth policy within the Open Method of Coordination in the field of youth. There is more and more space for youth involvement in public life and the project will stimulate this involvement.

Promotion of European Identity, understanding of the role of European Institutions and the development of active citizenship with European context are the crucial elements of European Integration Process of Neighboring countries. In this regard, it is of special value to develop cooperation between young people from EU countries (and especially new EU countries, which successfully passed through post-soviet transformations) and the countries of Eastern Europe and Caucasus which are facing transformations and put effort to integrate with the rest of Europe.
